The 5th meeting of the Azerbaijan-Hungary Working Group on Energy was held virtually, as reported by Renewables.az, citing Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Energy.
Zaur Mammadov, Co-Chair of the Working Group and Head of Administration at Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Energy, highlighted the group’s success in fostering robust energy cooperation. He noted that sustained collaboration has transformed the partnership into a strategic and mutually beneficial relationship, particularly in the oil and gas sector. Mammadov also praised the collaboration between energy companies of both nations and Hungary’s active participation in the Southern Gas Corridor, Green Energy Advisory Councils, and Baku Energy Week. Hungary’s support for Azerbaijan’s energy initiatives ahead of COP29 was also acknowledged. He emphasized the importance of the Caspian–Black Sea–Europe Green Energy Corridor project, involving Azerbaijan, Georgia, Hungary, and Romania, for advancing green energy development and transmission.
Hungarian Co-Chair Izabella Feierabend, Head of the Department of Energy and Climate Diplomacy at Hungary’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, underscored the progress in bilateral energy cooperation across multiple domains. She highlighted joint oil and gas projects, existing infrastructure opportunities, and the value of sharing expertise in green energy, energy regulation, and energy efficiency to deepen collaboration.
The meeting reviewed progress since the 4th Working Group session, with presentations on ongoing projects in oil and gas, renewable energy, energy regulation, and energy efficiency. The session concluded with the signing of a Protocol summarizing the outcomes of the 5th meeting.
