Masdar to Supply Over 30% of Azerbaijan’s Electricity Demand Through Renewable Energy

APRIL 08, 2025

Masdar, a leading renewable energy company based in the United Arab Emirates, has announced that it will supply more than 30% of Azerbaijan’s electricity demand through renewable energy projects. This marks a major step in the country’s transition to clean energy and its goal to become a regional green energy hub.

The announcement was made during the groundbreaking ceremony of new solar and wind power plants in Azerbaijan. These projects, developed in partnership with Masdar, are expected to significantly boost the country’s renewable energy capacity and contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

The company emphasized that the projects align with Azerbaijan’s strategic vision for a green economy and reflect Masdar’s long-term commitment to supporting the country’s sustainable energy goals. The renewable energy facilities will also enhance energy security and create new employment opportunities within the clean energy sector.

Azerbaijan has set ambitious targets for increasing the share of renewable energy in its energy mix by 2030, and its collaboration with Masdar plays a key role in achieving those objectives. The initiative supports the broader national and international commitments to combating climate change and promoting sustainable development.
